El Campo, California
El Campo was a ferry-accessible picnic resort established in 1891 on the San Francisco Bay shore south of Point San Quentin, developed by the San Francisco and North Pacific Railroad to boost ferry ridership and featuring a dance pavilion, merry-go-round, bowling alley, and over 100 acres of grounds. The facility became a major weekend destination for San Francisco families through the late 19th and early 20th centuries until it was later renamed Paradise Beach.
