Mountain Creek Waterpark is a water park in Vernon, New Jersey, situated on the Mountain Creek ski resort grounds, which succeeded the notorious Action Park (1978–1996)—one of America's first modern water parks, marked by multiple fatalities and a poor safety record despite its popularity with thrill-seekers. The current park opened in 1998 following Intrawest's acquisition and comprehensive safety overhaul, removing or revamping the most dangerous original attractions.
